Superintendent’s Farewell Tribute/Roast Has Tailgate Theme
Dr. Zimman is not going to be able to leave Ripon without the community saying goodbye. A citizen's committee is throwing a light-hearted farewell gathering for Ripon's Superintendent of Schools on Tuesday, June 4 at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall of Ripon College's Harwood Memorial Union. Zimman has served as Ripon's superintendent for nine years.
The gathering, which will be patterned after a tailgate party, is open to the public. Zimman is an unapologetic fan of the Boston Red Sox. Food—featuring traditional ballpark fare—will be served starting at 6 p.m. with a roast/tribute to follow from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Cost is $8 per ticket. Baseball attire is optional.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at any of the school offices, Pick N Save, BMO Harris Bank, Horicon State Bank, or at the door.

161 Years of Service to Ripon Kids Being Honored on May 20
Eight dedicated employees of the Ripon Area School District who are retiring in June will be honored by the Board of Education on Monday, May 20, at a public reception prior to the start of that evening’s school board meeting. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. in RHS room 167. The public is invited to share in the refreshments and memories. The Board will begin its meeting by recognizing each retiree with a tribute and a gift.
Together, these retiring employees have contributed 161 years of service to Ripon’s youth and community. Retirees include BPES Reading Teacher Linda Fleschner (17 years of Ripon service); BPES Early Childhood Teacher Debra Konecny (15 years); Speech/Language Pathologist Teleane Zieth (9 years); BPES Instructional Aide Barbara Stellmacher (26 years); MPES Grade 5 Teacher Jim Borell (34 years); RHS Science Teacher Mark Resch (35 years); Student Services Director Jan Cope-Kasten (16 years); and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard Zimman (9 years).

Board Selects New Officers
The Ripon Board of Education elected officers for the 2013-14 term at its annual reorganization meeting in accordance with state statute. David Scott was elected unanimously to lead the Board as president. He follows out-going president Andy Lyke who declined to serve another year.
Other Board officers elected were David Olson as vice president, Gary Rodman as treasurer, and Barb Schultz as clerk. Heather Hartling was appointed the CESA representative. Tom Stellmacher was appointed to be the Board's representative to the Education Foundation of Ripon. All officers and appointees serve one-year terms.

NEW SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCED
The Ripon Board of Education has announced its selection of Dr. Mary Whitrock as the next Superintendent of the Ripon Area School District. Whitrock will begin on July 1 following the retirement of Dr. Richard Zimman at the end of the current school year. Zimman has served as Ripon's Superintendent for nine years.
Dr. Whitrock currently serves as the Chief Academic Officer for the Green Bay Area School District. Previously, she served in as the Curriculum Director in Whitewater and is looking forward to returning to a smaller community. Whitrock has nine years of school administration experience and nine years of classroom teaching at the elementary and middle school level. She is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire, has master's degrees from Viterbo College and Marian University, and received a doctorate from Cardinal Stritch University. The mother of five children, ranging from 2nd grade to 10th grade students, she and her husband enjoy family kayaking, camping, biking, and hiking in Wisconsin.
