The Ripon Area School District provides a continuum of educational services to children with disabilities, ages 3 through 21. Anyone with reason to suspect a child has a disability may pursue a referral for an educational-based evaluation. Those interested in pursuing a referral (special education/ Section 504) should contact the Director of Special Education, School Psychologist, or any building administrator for further information. School personnel will conduct an educational evaluation and the evaluation team, including parent(s)/guardians, will determine if a child meets the educational criteria for specialized instruction under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and state guidelines as outlined by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 (Section 504). Subsequently the designated team will determine if the student is eligible for services based on one or more of the following disabilities/ impairments:
- Autism
- Emotional-Behavioral Disability
- Hearing Impairment
- Intellectual Disability
- Orthopedic Impairment
- Other Health Impairment
- Significant Developmental Delay
- Specific Learning Disability
- Speech/ Language Impairment
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Visual Impairment
