How does Title I help Ripon students?
The purpose of the Title 1 program is to enable all children to meet the Wisconsin State academic standards. Federal funds are received by the district to provide supplementary services to children identified as being in the greatest need of reading or academic assistance.
Under the Title I legislation:
- Schools and families form partnerships to help students.
- Reading interventionists design programs that involve children in a variety of learning experiences.
- Reading interventionists are certified with a 316 Reading Teacher License.
- Teachers provide specialized instruction to reinforce and supplement classroom learning.
- Teachers are supported through ongoing professional development.
- Parents are encouraged to participate in Title I family events that support the joy of learning together.
