Part Time Open Enrollment
Part-Time Open Enrollment offers eligible high school students an opportunity to take up to two classes at the same time at a non-resident Wisconsin public high school. Ripon Area School District is considered our students' resident district; in this situation "resident" does not mean where the student resides, it refers to where the student attends school majority-time. Credits and grades earned through Part-Time Open Enrollment are counted toward Ripon Area School District enrollment and included on the student's transcript
High school students are eligible to apply for part-time open enrollment to take up to two courses in another district, usually their resident district. Application Deadlines is no later than six weeks prior to the start of the course(s)

Application: Part-Time Open Enrollment
Restrictions: No more than two courses may be taken at the same time under Part-Time Open Enrollment. The Ripon Area School District will deny a Part-Time Open Enrollment course request if it would result in an undue financial burden to OAVL/RASD. Students/parents are responsible for providing transportation to/from class(es), although there may be funding assistance available through DPI for qualified families. Late applications will NOT be approved by the Ripon Area School District, no matter the reason.
To Apply:
1. In collaboration with the student's Advisory Teacher, the student and student's parent(s) should research courses offered at non-resident high school(s). If appropriate class options are available and all parties agree participation is in the student's best academic interest, then...
2. Parents must submit the Part-Time Open Enrollment Program application to the NON-RESIDENT school district (ie the school district where the classes will be offered) no later than six weeks prior to the start of the course(s). Late applications will NOT be approved by Ripon Area School District, no matter the reason (even if the non-resident district approves the application). We recommend submitting applications to the non-resident school district by June 1 for fall courses and November 1 for spring courses to ensure timely processing.
Non-resident school districts should forward approved Part-Time Open Enrollment applications to:

3. After the Part-Time Open Enrollment application has been reviewed by the Ripon Area School District, the applicant will be notified regarding the decision. If the request has been approved, the student will be guided through the next steps in the application process. Students who attend the non-resident high school throughout the school year have priority over Part-Time Open Enrollment Program participants, and Odyssey students might not know if they will be enrolled in the class(es) until a week or so prior to the start of the course. The student/family should maintain open communication with the Odyssey Advisory Teacher to make sure the student is registered for an appropriate number of credits each semester between Odyssey Academy and the non-resident high school.
