The following items are the components for a first and second grade student to participate in Odyssey Academy. This academic outline gives you a general overview of the year. Google Classroom will be used to communicate the specifics of these projects and tasks.
Reading
- Running Records Reading Assessment- beginning of the year and when needed
- ESGI Reading Assessment (1st grade)
- i-Ready Reading Assessment (2nd grade)
- Reading conferences (if applicable)
- Portfolio Assessments
Online reading support - IF teacher recommends based upon student performance
Optional or Required based upon student performance
- Weekly optional virtual class focused on reading foundations and/or reading comprehension
Writing
- Quarterly instruction in specific writing genre
- Writer’s Workshop Conference- individual with student (if needed)
Math
Online Reading Support- IF teacher recommends based upon student performance
- Mathseeds
- ESGI assessment (1st grade) with teacher
- i-ready online assessment (2nd grade) with parent
- Math assessments on portfolio
- Optional (or required if needed): Weekly virtual class focused on math concepts
Social Studies
Students will create a project each semester based on grade level standards or participate in a teacher-led social studies project. Topics covered include: Citizenship, Economics (money), Families, Homes, Geography, Political Science
Science
Students will create a project each semester based on grade level standards or participate in a teacher-led science project. Across the two years students will cover concepts in each subject area: Pushes and Pulls; Animals, Plants and their Environment; Weather and Climate; Engineering and Design
Physical Education
Parents will submit to teacher reflection of activities.
