The following items are the components for a seventh and eighth grade student to participate in Odyssey Academy. This academic outline gives you a general overview of the year. A learning management system will be used to communicate the specifics of these projects and tasks.
Reading
ELA- 600 minutes per week including reading in all subject areas, writing, language & grammar
- Online Reading Assessment - iReady
- Reading conferences w/ teacher
- Complete an independent book/reading log
- English/Language Arts- PBL Course- meets for live classes twice per week OR
- ELA Hybrid Course- at home curriculum w/ parent & teacher advisor
Online Reading Support- IF teacher recommends based upon student performance
- iReady Online Lessons
Writing

- Quarterly instruction in specific writing genre

300 minutes per week

Social Studies
Project-Based Learning: Students will choose from the grade level project menu to create a project each quarter based on grade level standards. Across the two years, students will cover concepts in each subject area: Behavioral Sciences, Economics, Geography, Political Science, and History
Science
Project-Based Learning: Students will choose from the grade level project menu to create a project each quarter based on grade level standards. Topics covered include Engineering Design, Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth’s Place in the Universe.
Physical Education
Students will develop a physical fitness log of activity.
